Mannie Fresh Leave Ca$h Money and The Hot Boys Reunite
Following earlier exodus by Juvenile, B.G and Turk, we may be seeing the end of an era as Mannie Fresh makes his departure to do his own thing.
"It's official that I'm not with [Cash Money] no more," Mannie Fizzle states in the August 2005 (David Banner/ Paul Wall double-cover) issue of Orlando-based Ozone Magazine. "But it ain't a situation where we be name-calling and going back and forth. It's no bad blood." The producer, who has been Cash Money Records executive beat architect since day one, went on to explain while there is no bad blood it was just time for him to do his thing, Chubby Boy Records.
The New Orleans native's patented sound has virtually dominated the Billboard Rap and R & B charts with such popular albums as the Hot Boys' platinum LP Guerilla Warfare, BG's platinum-selling Chopper City In The Ghetto, Juvenile's multi-platinum albums 400 Degreez, the Big Tymers' platinum selling Hood Rich and gold selling Big Money Heavy Weight, Baby's platinum selling solo effort entitled The Birdman, Lil Wayne's The Carter and Teena Marie's La Doña just to name a few.
On the subject of a possible Hot Boy Reunion, Mannie who started out as a member of the infamous Crescent City DJ/hip-hop crew, New York Incorporated told Ozone, "I'm ready to do it, they're ready to do it, but Baby don't have no say so, that was part of the deal. They asked me if I wanted to do it, and since three out of four Hot Boys don't want Baby to have no part of the project that's the way it's gotta happen." There is still one obstacle to overcome first, everybody is signed to a different label, but they are in the progress of working it all out.
